The play structures are intended for children and it's possible that a sighted child who can't read yet is attending with a visually impaired adult.
12
u/Joebloyo Jan 04 '23
Why tf is a blind fucker looking after a child?
1
u/algernonbiggles Jan 04 '23
Blind people are allowed to procreate...
4
u/Joebloyo Jan 04 '23
Well a blind parent is gonna be bloody useless if something happens to their child at a park.... Note I said nothing about blind people having children, just them looking after the child obviously in conjunction with this post at the park....

You do know they can still take care of a child. They probably have assistance like the company use to work. I was practically there for no reason since most disabled people is more able than able people😅. I’m like what you need me to do? Nothing, just make sure I don’t fall or something. I miss my old clients they are low key comedians.
1
u/Joebloyo Jan 05 '23
Child falls and knocks themselves out, they're then unable to respond to a blind person trying to locate the child...
0
u/DawnKnight91 Jan 05 '23
This is why they have assisted workers. I know people on the internet don’t know the disability act been helping provide disabled people with care to live a normal life but there is people who work closely with disabled people
1
u/Joebloyo Jan 05 '23
Oh so tax money is already getting spent so they can "live normal lives" but more tax money being spent so they can "live normal lives".... Cool.....
0
u/DawnKnight91 Jan 05 '23
Tax money on disabled people to live normal lives. What extra money you believe they getting? They barely cover regular medical bills, hence why they need to actually stop being cheap and spending money on things that’s not even helping the economy. Also, what is your jealousy with disabled people?
1
u/Joebloyo Jan 05 '23
Jealously? Of people that are never going to give back to the economy, just take and take, expecting more and more? I'm ok with helping people back on their feet, helping those with disabilities to create a self sustainable life. But those who are just a drain on tax payers, on the economy, on resources that with never give back, I have an issue with them. The parents should of created a way of supporting the disabled child they chose to have.

u/Cherno-alpha01 Jan 03 '23
The Braille writting under the english letters( how can a blind person see the reflection if they are blind)
152
u/jaymiracles Jan 03 '23
The mirror is wavy so it’s cursive braille so that blind kids can read the reflection

u/jar36 Jan 04 '23
Thank you. I wasted too much of my morning looking for something in the reflection

Is it wrong that I'm visually impaired and find this hilarious?
17
u/p4rkourm4ster Jan 03 '23
It means you can joke about yourself, wich is an important skill many don't have. One of the most important things in life i would argue

u/FeverLee Jan 03 '23
The point of braille is to allow those who cannot see to be able to read... They deserve to be able to read what it is, no?

u/ratowner Jan 03 '23 •

You are correct but I can just imagine someone blind walking up to it, reading it, then being like “ahh fuck not for me”

To me this is analogous to writing the title of a book in Braille when the rest of the book is just written letters. There may be some reasons for it, but it's probably more likely to cause confusion than be helpful. To me it reads as someone checking a box, or trying to appear handicapped friendly. If the builders are so concerned with blind children why not make something you don't need to be sighted to use/enjoy?
2
u/Joebloyo Jan 04 '23
So they can read about what they can't use? Cool......
1
u/FeverLee Jan 04 '23
I can read all sorts of labels for things I can't use...
1
u/Joebloyo Jan 04 '23
So it's like reading the glossary for a book missing most of the chapters, pointless.... 😂
16
u/sofa_king_ugly Jan 03 '23
It's not as ridiculous as it seems at first. The play structures are intended for children and it's possible that a sighted child who can't read yet is attending with a visually impaired adult. "What does this say, Mommy?"
Having said that, I once saw signage with braille identifying washrooms in a Tim Hortons. The signs were more than 7 feet off the floor, over the washroom doorways.
2
u/ApollinaGrindelwald Jan 04 '23
The visually impaired must have the ability to either fly or float. You know as a sort of a trade off?

u/Oskenkorva Jan 03 '23
How do you know the braille says "fun reflections"😋
Maybe it says "move, people behind you are trying to see their reflection".🤷
29
u/HooahClub Jan 03 '23
It says “Move along blindie the real kids wanna play here”. Trust me I’m blind.

u/moxiejohnny Jan 03 '23
Not all blind people can see absolutely nothing. There's a whole range of different ways a person can be blind and need to use Braille. They may be able to see the general reflection but not the words. OP is just undereducated and looking for quick flair.

My old school had fire escape instructions in English and braille printed on plain printer paper and taped by the elevator. Not great.

Is the braille just painted on?
I guess with a very light touch that may be feel able?

u/christophersonne Jan 03 '23
Reading braille doesn't require you to be completely blind. In fact, you can learn to read braille if you have perfect vision.
Accessibility doesn't have to help everyone equally.

This reminds me of stickers I used to see on store windows saying “guide dogs welcome here”.
I always wondered who the sign was for…the dog or the blind person.

For regular kids its a mirror, for blind kids its a spot to reflect on past good times
1
1
u/BrisbanePom Jan 04 '23
You’re assuming that kids who read braille can’t see anything at all. They may well be able to see the colours reflected. My kid’s “blind” and we use mirrors with them…

u/Queeris Jan 04 '23
it'd be funny if the braille said "you can't see your fun reflection blind cunt"

SOOOO, a fun house style mirror needs braille? Do the blind kids really need to be told, "This surface that's really smooth? It does a cool thing when you look at it, but the blind can't... That's what I see.
