Bard was "off the hook" technically after Anderson went to 2nd because then Bard's remaining inherited runners could only tie the game, not take the lead.

But everyone knows who fans were blaming for this shit

The last one was fucking awesome. I really, really hope it keeps gaining more momentum here in the US (and other nations, of course!). The next one being in only a few years (2026) and Olympic baseball a couple years after (2028) will be dope as well.

Great moments are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here, tonight, boys. That's what you've earned here tonight. One game. If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight. Tonight, we hit with them. Tonight, we stay with them. And we shut them down because we can! Tonight, we are the greatest baseball team in the world. You were born to be baseball players. Every one of you. And you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great baseball team the Venezuelans have. Screw 'em! This is your time! Now go out there and take it!!!

Itโ€™s unfair that weโ€™re batting Turner 9th

301

u/dillardPA Atlanta Braves 8d ago

Any lineup that can toss Turner up in the 9 hole is preposterous. And weโ€™re still missing a ton of great players not even counting pitchers. We could have Harper out there as a DH and heโ€™s prob the best hitter in baseball aside from Trout.

244

u/fender-b-bender Chicago Cubs 8d ago

Move Mookie to 2B, put Harper in RF and Judge at DH(or Harper at DH and Judge in RF) and that is the lineup of death for the US. Imagine getting through Betts and Trout, only to have to go through Harper and Judge, before getting to Goldschmidt and Arenado. Somehow manage to get through them? Ok we'll follow them up with Tucker, Realmuto and then Turner before going back to the MVP parade

116

u/sportsguy8888 8d ago

keep going, almost there

109

u/fender-b-bender Chicago Cubs 8d ago

Our rotation is Cole/Verlander/Burnes/Cease

81

u/rail_bird Atlanta Braves 8d ago edited 8d ago

Just do one inning stints. Something likeโ€ฆ Degrom, Burnes, Cole, Nola, Mclanahan, Verlander, Wheeler, Strider and Scherzer as closer.

Doubleheader edit: Cease, Bieber, Gausman, Rodon, Gallen, Fried, McKenzie, Manoah and Woodruff as closer

Triple header edit: Kershaw, Ray, Webb, Snell, Gilbert, Giolito, Morton, Glasnow and Hunter Greene as closer.

39

u/fender-b-bender Chicago Cubs 8d ago

Literally the 27 pitchers you just named are better than anyone that's in our rotation at this moment, that's how sad this rotation is. Hell, I'm sure there's some AAA prospects better than what we have at this moment.

10

u/m0_m0ney Chicago White Sox 8d ago

Itโ€™s funny because in lower levels of baseball itโ€™s pretty often you play must win games, high school and college have much shorter seasons and feature more high pressure baseball, itโ€™s basically just the minors where winning doesnโ€™t matter that much and MLB where, sure the games matter but youโ€™re not selling out to win every game.
