Sadly a trend with foundation is to use warmer undertones instead of your actual undertone :( So it results in this weird orange look which looks quite unnatural.

80

u/___Towlie___ 10d ago

Interesting, I haven't seen those trends.

My favorite foundation trend is calling 811 before you dig, and having a backhoe dig before setting a rebar footing and then starting a pour. I know there's other ways out there, but I guess I'm kind if boring that way.

20

u/FartPoopRobot_PhD 10d ago

Yes, calling 811 first is precisely how you should be boring. Otherwise the bit could hit anything. Then you're all sorts of screwed.

11

u/Otto-Korrect 10d ago

I've seen a plethora of unattractive conservative men, especially the hyper-"conservative" types that have such an issue with seeming gay they don't wash properly. Also the lazy keyboard warriors that sit on their asses arguing with strangers online about what people deserve equality and to what extent. Admittedly though, the extreme cases of the latter also tend to be the former too.

148

Yah It's the event in Phoenix. Failed gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake was promoting it by stating $20 general admission with a free concert. Why someone would pay $20 to hear more conspiracy theories of rigged elections is unknown to me.

21

u/JohnnyAppIeseed 10d ago

Describing that event as “conspiracy theories of rigged elections” is completely dishonest.

They? You mean Donald J Trump, who literally started his political career asking for a black presidents birth certificate. Obama made fun of him and the rest is history. He ran for president out of pure spite and fucking won.

13

u/General_Mars 10d ago

Short Trump timeline: - pays nearly $100,000 to put ads in to reinstate death penalty, Central Park Five referenced, 1989 - “I am strongly in favor of the death penalty. I am also in favor of bringing back police forces that can do something instead of just turning their back because every quality lawyer that represents people that are in trouble said the first thing they do is to start shouting ‘police brutality,’ etc.” Trump stated to Larry King, May 17, 1989 - [Trump] discussed a separate rape and assault case that occurred in Brooklyn, saying he was asked by a reporter if he had compassion for the perpetrator. “I said, ‘Of course I hate these people and let’s all hate these people because maybe hate is what we need if we’re gonna get something done,'” he said. - A reporter asked Donald Trump if he would apologize to the Central Park Five in June, 2019, shortly after the release of the Netflix series, “When They See Us,” a dramatization of the Central Park 5 case. Watch Trump answer the question here. “Why do you bring that question up now? It’s an interesting time to bring it up,” Trump said. “You have people on both sides of that. They admitted their guilt.” - “The Central Park Five documentary was a one sided piece of garbage that didn’t explain the.horrific crimes of these young men while in park,” Trump wrote on Twitter April 24, 2013. - Trump Wrote an Op-Ed in the Daily News in 2014 Saying ‘Settling Doesn’t Mean Innocence - Central Park Five Article - 1987-1988: Trump considers a run for president, while simultaneously juggling large debts stemming from his purchase of the Taj Mahal casino. (He had 2 casinos within minutes directly competing against one another). - 2000: Trump enters the presidential race as a Reform Party candidate and receives more than 15,000 votes in the party's California primary. - 2003-2004: Trump begins hosting the reality show The Apprentice on NBC, which he also executive-produces. He again mulls a run for president, but ultimately decides not to join the race. - March 2011: A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows Trump leading all presidential contenders, including Mitt Romney. - April 2011: Amid more research polls indicating that he would be the preferred Republican presidential candidate among voters, Trump repeatedly calls for President Obama to release his long-form birth certificate, questioning whether Obama was actually born in the United States. (Obama eventually complies and releases the birth certificate.) - May 2011: Trump officially announces that he will not run for president. - February 2012: Trump endorses Republican candidate Mitt Romney for president. - 2013: Trump forms a presidential exploratory committee and, despite a strong backing from Republican voters, announces that he has no interest in running for governor of New York in 2014. - June 2015: Trump formally announces that he's running for president in a speech delivered from Trump Tower in New York City. Almost immediately, corporations and individuals that have partnerships with Trump - including Macy's, NBC and Univision - begin to sever ties with the mogul because of disparaging comments he made about Mexicans in the speech announcing his candidacy. I've always been puzzled by the stereotype that USA are a peak democracy country, yet you can only choose out of only 2 options when you vote. And both options are pretty controversial, to say the least. Last time I attended elections, I was given a damn long list of 15+ parties/candidates...

42

u/doobiehowserMN 10d ago

We have essentially have two coalition parties that everyone forces themselves to fit into. Our current system of elections doesn’t make the election of 3rd party candidates possible.

Be black? Yes that’s all he did.

Remember, Trump got his start in politics saying Obama was illegitimate. Born in Africa. Not an American.

19

u/doug 10d ago

I mean he got a boost in politics for saying that because the hateful dumbass that was Roger Ailes amplified any and all hatred on his Murdoch network, but Trump grifted for president nearly every year before Obama ever ran.

2

u/Lylac_Krazy 10d ago

Trump was also a registered Democrat before switching parties to run.

3

u/Lashay_Sombra 10d ago

Funny thing is, even if he was illegitimate, born in Africa and Muslim, not one of those things would have actually disqualified him as his mother was American

I engaged in a 15 year social experiment at my place of work. In the break room, there were two televisions at opposite sides. Not surprisingly, the right side was tuned in to Fox while the left side was tuned in to CNN or MSNBC. On my breaks, I would sit in the middle and watch my co-workers reactions to what they were viewing.

Murdoch's strategy was to bombard the viewer with audible refrains of terror and fear along with visual crawlers (one read: Mother's milk is toxic, for example), while combining this with waving flags, blonde women, and calls for nationalistic pride. He applies the dopamine rush incrementally and progressively, so that what would have appeared to even conservatives as fascist and reactionary 15 years ago now feels like the norm. The Fox viewer would typically leave the break room less calm and more angry than when they came in. Even the commercials were highly symbolic of something not right, they were peppered with erectile dysfunction ads and money schemes using patriotic imagery.

The left side of the room also experienced increase fear and anxiety, but there wasn't the raw visceral reaction that the Fox viewer would get. Fox poisons the mind terribly and created a very hostile inner narrative for its audience. In the final analysis, Murdoch was doing what Goebbels did, but over a very long period of time.

u/AlivebyBestialActs 10d ago

I mean, when you have half the country voting for outright fascists who want to pretend you don't have a right to exist and have any agency the luxury of not being partisan kinda goes out the window. Especially when said fascists make their politicians their personality.

It’s become mainstream divisiveness in the last like 10 years. Just a bunch of people generalizing and assuming every left leaning person is a dyed hair trans person or every right wing person is a dumb redneck with 3 teeth. America is super divisive and under educated.

65

u/seansmithspam 10d ago

leftists see conservatives as normal people who live in bubbles of misinformation. Conservatives see leftists as evil blue haired trans vegans who complain about everything and secretly want to plot the destruction of the world for no reason.

I wouldn’t say it’s a “both sides” issue if only one side is completely dependent on fear/anger inducing conspiracies.

11

u/Green-Snow-3971 10d ago

Conservatives see leftists that way because that what their chosen politigods constantly feed them. And just in case some slip off the hook with , "well they ain't hurting me," they reel them back in with "InDoCtRiNaTiOn!!!"

Soon they're addicted to it, wanting more and more and more.

Rage porn is a powerful tool.

5

u/IHave580 10d ago

My buddy grew up in a smaller town. He said he grew up (in the 90s) hearing constantly that democrats were pure evil to be feared and hated. He went to college in the city and his mind was blown that that was not even remotely close to the case.

So there is truth to that. Right wing media/church has, for decades, told the right that the left are all evil people looking to destroy this country. It's creating a moral panic to gain support, something the continually do when they use the "the lefts war on...." bs. All the while, they are the party really doing the shit they blame the left for.

3

u/seansmithspam 10d ago

Yep. The left’s main enemy is the mega rich 1%. The right’s main enemy is the left. Conservatism in general is an ideology created and pushed by the richest people in order to maintain their status quo.

All centered around the idea that wealth is fairly distributed and fairly earned through merit. If conservatives didn’t believe that specific thing, they would no longer be conservative.

I’m a leftist and I’m white average build 5’10 170 lb. I dress very clean cut, I keep my hair medium length and organized, I wear like Ralph Lauren button downs. Liberal/leftist men are probably more likely to dye their hair and have painted nails than conservatives but most liberal men do not have dyed hair/painted nails if that makes sense.

Even just consider Hollywood. They are all liberal men and very few of them have alternative looks like painted nails etc.

What we consider liberal isn’t even remotely liberal anyways. Basically, anything that isn’t conservative is liberal.

4

u/starserval 10d ago

Even worse than that as you watch conservatives turn on each other for not being conservative enough. It’s to the point where if you aren’t following whatever the current propaganda is religiously, you are liberal. One of my parents called Liz fucking Cheney a liberal.

They do the same weird thing with liberal women too, assuming that they all have blue hair and are super overweight and covered in tattoos. It’s very odd. I don’t get the fixation on blue hair, it’s a very small group of people dying their hair bright colours.

5

u/GraceIsGone 11d ago

And many are conservatives. I live in Phoenix and there are so many people here with differently colored hair and most of them are conservative christians selling essential oils.

conservatives rely on memes and stereotypes to make their points for them since their views can't be rationally justified, that's why they lean so hard into emotional arguments rather than logic based ones. "Blue hair bad" sounds better to the average person than "I want to force my religious views on you" or "I want to chip away at other people's human rights".

I think it comes from hardcore party hack grade conservatives who’s world view is that if you don’t know how to chase, tackle, and tie up a pig then you must be a blue haired ballerina sissy boy. Even if you do know how to roll in the mud and capture an alligator if you for some reason utter something like “psychologists should be a free public service paid for by taxpayers, take it out of the military budget and extend mental healthcare to everyone” well that means you’re a sissy. Why a sissy? We’ll that’s just another anti masculine put down. Why do they do it to themselves? Alpha status I guess?

In any case they’re wrong and anyone not exposed to that behavior normally would certainly be shocked.

As for this woman though she hasn’t a clue about a whole segment of society that are male, masculine, mature, and as the gentleman pointed out have a better sense of style

Consequences of being ignorant I guess

5

u/FourWordComment 10d ago

I’m as grotesque as any dude. Shaved head because I’m balding, pretty ok beard if I do say so myself, hairy bod, a little portly. He/him pronouns to the surprise of exactly nobody.

But I believe in taking care of those in need; in paying your fair share; in giving back to community; in being accountable for your actions; in good faith attempts to make the word a better place; in dealing with the hard part of hard questions—not just the easy parts; in protecting people’s freedoms; in holding those in power to a high standard; in having a finely tuned bullshit detector. So, I’m a liberal. Because the modern conservative doesn’t seem to care about those things.

no she's thinking of the 'liberals' that fox news regularly talks about. the fictitious group that they claim all look like this.

obviously some people do dress like that, as evident by the photo i linked, but it's not a liberal thing.

edit: i rewrote my comment to make it clear i was pointing out the idea that every liberal dressed like the picture i linked is unrealistic.

13

u/dicklord_airplane 10d ago

Some dipshit conservatives i've met had their minds blown when they learned that I, a feminist socialist raver dude, drive a manual transmission car and do most of my own car and home repair. They couldn't comprehend that a progressive person could operate a gear shift, change a belt, or patch drywall. They've been so thoroughly programmed by fox news to dehumanize everyone outside of their conservative in-group that they're surprised when real-world progressives have the same basic life skills as everyone else.

I thought it looked like some "edgy" Christian Youtuber doing a piece outside their church when it's just let out. Or after a young adult church group...

Maybe they had a sermon that day about what good husbands are like and he made it directly political outside afterwards.

Idk why, it just has that vibe to me.
