Surprisingly no one has asked OP yet:
Did you get the food?

I had an Uber driver get pulled over like 300’ away from me. I was confused why he wasn’t moving on the map so I walked over and saw it.

what if they used a hailstorm unit to intercept the order then deducted that the person who requested delivery was under the influence of marijuana so they figured they'd do a super troopers spectacle?

Free Pizza! Edit- is that even a thing anymore? I don't think it is...

u/drdisney Nov 26 '22
Domino's used to have it, but they got rid of it when a few of the drivers killed a few pedestrians by trying to get the pizza delivered quickly.
It's the same reason why Jimmy John's ditched their freakishly fast delivery slogan. Too many accidents by drivers trying to rush the delivery.

Was once working a shift in the ED at Charlotte Maxeke in Johannesburg and one of the doctors was getting angry because it was a busy night, he'd ordered Nandos about 4 hours ago and there was no sign of it. Properly hangry this guy.
Anyway, in pulls an ambulance with the delivery dude on it, guy got taken out by a car about 2 blocks from the hospital. Not too badly hurt, mainly soft tissue. But the look on the doctor's face when they told him his food was left on scene with the motorcycle was heartbreaking.

Update for those who were wondering. He got towed, and left in the tow truck so maybe he just wasn't registered and they couldn't let him drive away? Idk. We did get the food though, about half an hour later. It was still warm and tasty! We tipped him in the app and gathered a bunch of cash to add to it because he looked like he was having a shitty day.

Poor chap. That's very kind of you, I hope things got better for him :(
Off-topic, but I really like your living room window. I'll bet your living room is beautifully lit up during the day!

Delivery drivers are(or were, back when I was in the game) very lucrative targets for shady cops. They carry cash tips with no paper trail, so no proof they had it in the first place. My bro got shookdown a couple times back when he drove for papa johns.

Damn, now the time I got stopped in a bad neighborhood while delivering because the cop wanted to know "Why you're driving so slow." Is way scarier. I had a fucking lit-up topper on my car so I thought he was just a moron. Now I wonder if I got lucky by being incredibly boring.
In his minor defense, I had actually been "following him" (going the same direction, and behind him) at a slow speed for a minute cuz my GPS fucked up and that area was kinda known for throwing addresses around at random, so maybe I made him a tad paranoid.
I, too, was finally stopped directly in front of my customers house. But I just explained I was looking for the address and they went on their way. Freaked out my customer tho.

Nowadays, everyone tips in the app. The last time I gave cash to a delivery guy, I was using a Nokia. …damn, I’m old.

I always tip my Uber driver in cash. I figure he doesn't have to report it and Uber can't steal any portion of it. I've only gotten a 4 rating once.

Man, your dealer got busted that close to home. Had they already made the drop?

We're you planning on opening the door wearing black gloves and shirtless?

Most services have drop off option now. You don't really have to greet them, but if you do they are not typically expecting high fashion to greet them.

one night dashing, i got tailed by these cops for literally around 25minutes. They followed me from one drop off to the next, waiting in the drive they parking lot until i left, followed me to the next house. They parked on the opposite side of the street a little ways down, so their headlights were blinding me. Like an idiot i didn't see they parked at a dead end, so i thought i'd drive past them, well i ended up having to turn around RIGHT next to them lmao.
Followed me out of the neighborhood, back onto the street and a ways down until i turned into burger king (another order) and they finally kept driving. Dude i was shitting my pants the ENTIRE time though i knew i had done nothing wrong lol.

Are you wearing a bra? Looks like a strap from a too small bra on your shoulder

Imagine being the driver. Just trying to make ends meet and deliver someone’s stupid food because they are to lazy to get it themselves and you get pulled over for something menial. Why even post this. It’s not mildly interesting at all.

Reason #45 why I would never deliver food. That ticket just washed out all his wages for the night and probably a few other days.

My delivery driver backed into another car while I was waiting for the food. Guy who owned the car was a dick so I didn’t say anything.

Really wanted to earn that 4 dollar tip you were going to “forget” to give him.

u/bubbablanks10 Nov 27 '22
That’s gotta fucking suck. All of your time you spent working gone instantly by the police getting their quota.
