We are refreshing the thread for Election Day.

This is the place for all general discussion. Significant developing news may get its own thread, but for the most part we want to consolidate discussion here.

A reminder that you are welcome to disagree with ideas but attacking other people is not welcome. All normal subreddit rules apply here, and please just Report any trolls and don't engage.

These are some links we think may be of use. If there are some good ones that we missed please let us know.

Politics What's shakin'? This is Julie Gunnigle, Democratic Candidate for Maricopa County Attorney. AMA

Hey there-- this is Julie Gunnigle. I'm a local loudmouth attorney and activist who fights for justice in our criminal legal system, for funding in our public schools, and for reproductive justice for our families.

I'm running for Maricopa County Attorney, the third largest prosecutor's office in the country. It's an office that has been historically plagued with corruption and scandal. Most recently, it framed 39 protestors and colluded with the Phoenix Police Department, causing the recent DOJ investigation.

I'm in this fight because I believe in true equal justice under law, that addiction, mental health, and gun violence are public health issues, and that police and prosecutors have no place in your reproductive decisions.

Ask me anything! We get started on November 1, 2022 at 3:00 pm.

*EDIT* Taking a break for dinner at 5:30 pm. I'll be back to answer as many as I can.

Politics Can I take down political signs around my neighborhood?

I know during the election you can get in real trouble for taking down certain party's signs. Now, I would take down ALL signs (not just one party or the other).

Edit:TIL --> It is NOT ok to remove the signs, and they are the responsibility of the campaigns. They have 14 days to remove them, or they will get fined (though the fine might not be well enforced), and then the city will come and remove them.

Our best bet for the future is to pass new regulations about how they are managed. So future years are better.

Contact info when signs have been up longer then allowed:

Code Enforcement Hotline: 480-312-2546 [codeenforcement@ScottsdaleAZ.gov](mailto:codeenforcement@ScottsdaleAZ.gov)

I think that's the correct contact info, from this site: https://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/codes/signs/campaign-signs

This is off the City of Phoenix Code Enforcement sign brochure:
For more information on political signs, call 602-495-0301.
